The inspiration behind this piece speaks for itself, being my artistic version of Mount. Rainer.

My Role

My role was the artist, the one who brought the entire piece to life.

The Problem

The main problems revolved around making not only the ombre effect, but making it clear and not overwhelming. As well as keeping the trees fluffy, detailed, but recognizable and easy to ignore in order to create more focus on the mountain.

The Challenges

My biggest challenge was creating Rainer’s shadows, and making the trees.

The Solution

The best solution I had at the time was keeping the saturation of the colors high and having each one fade upwards into the other. There was a lot of blending involved in the process but I am happy with the result. For the trees I followed Bob Ross’ Happy Little Trees technique. (may he rest peacefully)
